At the end of this month, Putumayo Kids will release the fifth CD in their successful Dreamland series, Acoustic Dreamland–another home run in their series of all-star albums for the entire family. Eleven singer-songwriters perform unplugged, soothing music to lull children to sleep and for adults to unwind. The CD includes songs originally recorded by the Allman Brothers, James Taylor, Wilco and Albemarle county’s own Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Lullabyes dressed up with acoustic guitar, dulcimer, and folksy/jazzy vocals make Acoustic Dreamland a staple in any hip coffee house as well as a home full of children. This album is our new favorite for long road trips and relaxing afternoons to soothe the soul and strained ears.
Widely recognized as one of the most innovative children’s music labels in the United States, the award-winning Putumayo Kids is committed to introducing children to different cultures through fun, upbeat collections of music from around the world. Putumayo Kids CDs are sold in more than 5,000 toy stores, children’s boutiques, bookstores and other specialty stores in more than 75 countries. Other CDs in the Dreamland series include Asian Dreamland, and more.

Dreamland
(lyrics Mary Chapin Carpenter)
Sun goes down and says goodnight
Pull your covers up real tight
By your bed we’ll leave a light
To guide you off to Dreamland
Your pillow’s soft, your bed is warm
Your eyes are tired when day is done
One more kiss and you’ll be gone
On your way to Dreamland
Every sleepy boy and girl
In every bed around the world
Can hear the stars up in the sky
Whispering a lullaby
Who knows where you’ll fly away
Winging past the light of day
The man in the moon and the Milky Way
Welcome you to Dreamland
Every sleepy boy and girl
In every bed around the world
Can hear the stars up in the sky
Whispering a lullaby
Who knows where you’ll fly away
Winging past the light of day
The man in the moon and the Milky Way
Welcome you to Dreamland

I didn’t realize Putumayo made so many different CDs aimed at kids. I think the world playground CDs would be a great way to incorporate multi-cultural exposure into our everyday life. I’m definitely interested in this CD.
I love putamayo and so does my niece. I have played them for my students when I was a teacher too. I have the jazz playground
we have their christmas cd – and yes, we still listen to it, bc my 2 yr old LOVES IT.

We love so many of Putamayo’s cds! This is so great that they have a new acoustic cd out! I listened to the samples and I am already in love with it. It is so nice that they have kids music that can be shared with an adult. I am excited that Elizabeth Mitchell is on this cd as well! Fingers crossed!
