One of the things I LOVE about Charlottesville is the numerous family-oriented activities that are often free or inexpensive.
A few weeks ago, Charlottesville hosted the Festival of the Book complete with lectures and book signings by authors all over the city.
There was even a fun activity for the little ones as Mayor David Norris declared the Cat in the Hat the honorary Mayor of Charlottesville for the Day, while the historic Downtown Mall was declared Whoville.
After a brief visit by the guest of honor, families paraded down the length of the mall while serenaded by a local saxophone ensemble to the historic Paramount theater where they watched two episodes of the WVPT Cat in the Hat show on the big screen.
Our three year-old enjoyed the event, his free Cat in the Hat golden book and book mark, and coloring page with his grand parents.
Even preschoolers can get involved in the Festival of the Book!

We sure had fun that day with you all. Love to you all, love MIMI
