We’re bring new bloggers on board to Traveling with Baby, and I’m thrilled to introduce them to you.
Pollyanna is my younger sister, and it’s exciting that we can collaborate on a shared interest, parenting our blessed children.
Please join me in welcoming her to Traveling with Baby!

Hi, I’m Pollyanna. I’m mommy to two delightful little souls, and I live in Indianapolis, with my wonderful husband and our lovable Golden Retriever, Chuy.
My husband, Greg, and I met at church, fell in love, married, got a puppy, and then became real parents. We have a gregarious little boy who’s four years old going on eight, and a shy little girl who loves to show how grown up she is at age two by announcing how well she can do things by herself.
I love that I have the privilege to stay at home with my kids, to teach and train them up in the way that they should go (Proverbs 22:6).
Homeschooling has been a fun endeavor that started early using flashcards with my son. I was surprised when he was starting to point to the right colors, shapes, and numbers at 15 months and was saying them soon after.
My daughter anxiously tries to keep up with her extroverted, older brother, though she quickly sings a tune before she can correctly pronounce the lyrics. Learning Bible verses set to music has helped them learn their alphabet and commit Scripture to memory. I was amazed how fast they’d memorize something when we’d sing it.
Being at home and constantly learning together, having their minds and bodies stimulated to learn and develop and grow helps them face new challenges eagerly.
A friend’s grandmother asked my son, “Where will you go to school next year?” He smiled and said, “We go to homeschool. My Mommy is our teacher.”
Though it’s not always easy, I’m truly blessed to stay at home with my kids and actively nurture their physical, emotional, and spiritual development. My strength comes from the Joy of the Lord (Nehemiah 8:10), and I can do nothing apart from Him. Who else could help me to encourage and uplift my husband when my instinct would be to complain and criticize?
When I want to give up and selfishly think about life before kids, when I had free time, more energy, money to spend on myself, I ‘m suddenly reminded of reality when my daughter tugs on my leg and looks up at me with long eyelashes and big, blue eyes just like her daddy’s and says, “Hold you, Mommy?”
Or just this morning, my son looks at me across the breakfast table and smiling says to me, “Mommy, I love you. You’re a Cutie orange because you’re so cute.” I smile, and then I realize, what was I thinking? I’ve got the most wonderful family in the whole world right here and they’re depending on me.
I really have a lot to learn… and the great thing is, they want to learn right along with me.
I’m looking forward to hearing your insights as I write about topics like: cooking organically, sewing, loving music, cleaning with all-natural products, among other topics of interest.
But for now, I must get back to the laundry that awaits me before I start baking the cake for my son’s birthday party. He turned four on May 10th and has had to wait nearly two weeks for his birthday party.
Once again, a lesson in patience… one I’m still learning.
