Thanks for joining me in my autumn craft posts part 1 (felt fall leaves), part 2 (fall wreath with ribbon scraps), and now for the final installation…dressing up a candle.
There’s only one type of scented candle that I like: pumpkin. Most of the others ones are too fruity or too flowery or too-much.
I want to give a big shout out to Elisa Bricker who gifted me with an awesome pumpkin spice candle last year that was all dressed up. She did a number on a big bunch of candles as her gift-giving last year.
I thought about her every time I lit it and enjoyed the warm and cozy scents that chased away the dark chill of winter. When my candle wick lit it’s last light, I opted to replace it with the exact same scent from a recent sale at a crafting store.
This poor new candle didn’t have the glam of twine and lace like it’s predecessor, so I asked my son to help me give it a little jazz with fabric scraps, twine, and lace from our ribbon scrap box.
Glue gun in hand, I was ready to go as my son helped select the appropriate colors and textures for our candle.
Here’s our final candle.
The bow on the lid is from a box of Gearhardt’s chocolates.
Isn’t this an awesome gift-giving idea? Or…just a fun way to dress up those glass jar candles that are in your home?

If you’d like a non-candle method to instill a natural fall fragrance in your home, use a slow cooker or small saucepan filled with water.
Add a cinnamon stick, 4 -8 cloves, and orange peel. Simmer on low and you’ll soon enjoy a wonderful spicy and citrusy fragrance wafting through your home as you enjoy the cozy indoors.
