Last Thursday, I had the honor of speaking within a health and wellness panel at the Quadruplicity conference, where there were over 250 in attendance.
At my wellness workshop session, I shared several practical tips for every day wellness. One of those tips included specific ways to use a bouncy ball to alleviate foot soreness, especially related to wearing high heels or having plantar fasciitis.
This is a practice I’ve used for several years, ever since I first learned about myofascial trigger point release in chiropractic college.
The funny thing is, my son doesn’t exactly know how to play with a bouncy ball. He’s always seen me use it to work on my feet. He thinks that’s the specific purpose intended for bouncy balls.
In fact, when I had a bin full of a hundred bouncy balls for the quadruplicity conference, Calvin squealed in delight. Wanting to keep them for his own intentions, I immediately removed them from his reach and declared that they were for my class.
“I’m going to teach people how to use them to massage their feet.”
[fast forward to Valentine's Day]
On Valentine’s day, Calvin came home with a bag full of cute cards, temporary tattoos, stickers, erasers, pencils, junk food candy, and a couple of bouncy balls with the message “You Make My Heart Bounce.”
Too cute!
First thing Calvin said when he saw the bouncy balls.
Can I play with those now? Those are for me to massage my feet!
Seriously.
I had to teach the boy how to play with bouncy balls.
We had a rippin’ good time bouncing them on the walls and door in the entryway (like a mini raquetball court).
This moment was almost as good as the one where my cousin handed him an Otterpop (popsicle stick) after swimming by the pool.
Calvin remarked,
What is this? Is it a purple cheese stick?
I’m raising a little doctor. Hey, it could be worse.
